Samsung z105 (SGH-z105)
The Samsung Z105 is Samsung's first 3G
handset in Europe, and the first 3G handset
to be fully supported on the Vodafone
3G network.
In many ways the Z105 looks like a conventional
Samsung clamshell, measuring just 95x50x26
mm, only slightly larger than a GSM phone,
and weighing 132 grams. This makes it substantially
smaller, but about the same weight, as the
rival NEC E616 on the Hutchison 3 network.
The internal colour screen on the Samsung
Z105 is a large 176x192 pixel display in
262,000 colours, making it one of the largest
and most colourful displays available. There's
also a smaller external display of 96x64
pixels in 65,000 colours.
In common with some other Samsungs, the
Z105 has a swivelling camera that can either
face towards or away from the camera, allowing
the Z105 to be used as a videophone or conventional
camera phone.
In addition to 3G WCDMA support,
the Samsung Z105 will run on 900/1800 GSM
networks and supports GPRS, which means
that you'll always be in contact, even if
you roam out of a 3G area.
The Samsung Z105 also supports Java for
games, polyphonic ringtones and a range
of 3G services such as video calling and
enhanced content.
Available in the modified Samsung
z107 format, late 2004.
