Samsung D500 (SGH-D500)
The Samsung D500 is the first Samsung
with Bluetooth to hit the UK market, but
that's not all. The D500 also comes with
a 1.3 megapixel camera with up to 7X digital
zoom, a large 176x220 pixel display in 262,000
colours, 80Mb of memory and MP3 playback.
In size terms, the D500 is smaller than
the D410
slider and larger than the popular E800,
coming in at 94x46x24mm
and 99 grams, which is still a fairly compact device. Basic phone operations
on the Samsung D500 can be done with the
slider tucked away - the keypad is really
only used for manual number dialling and
texting. The antenna is housed internally
within the case to prevent snagging when
the D500 is carried in a purse or pocket.
One interesting feature with the Samsung
D500 is MP3 and video playback capabilities,
which combined with the large 80Mb of memory
makes the D500 a practical and fun media
device. The D500 can also record video from
the inbuilt digitial camera, and files can
be easily transferred between phone and
computer using a USB cable or Bluetooth.
The Samsung D500 is a tri-band GSM phone
with GPRS and it includes a built-in WAP
2.0 browser and email client. Of course
the D500 also supports MMS and SMS, but
it can also be synchronised with a PC to
keep appointments and contacts up to date.
