Motorola A925
The Motorola A925 is the fourth handset
Motorola have produced for the UK's 3 network
and it's a solid improvement over the A920
model.
The A925 is a fairly large device weighing
210 grams and measuring 148x60x24 mm, which
makes it larger than most GSM mobiles, but
3G mobiles generally are large and quite
heavy. In cosmetic terms, the A925 is certainly
prettier than the earlier A920 which wasn't
to everyone's tastes.
It's much more than just a phone though,
because the Motorola A925 is packed with
clever and advanced features. First of all,
there's a 208x320 pixel touchscreen in 65,000
colours. , a built-in 640x480 pixel VGAresolution
camera that can take stills and low-resolution
video clips, plus the Motorola A925 can
play MP3s and movie clips, it supports Java
for applications and games, has a WAP 2.0
web browser and email client and runs on
the powerful Symbian operating system.

The clever stuff with 3G phones is at
the back end, and the A925 is a 3G phone
supporting up to 384kbps downstream data
(about seven times faster than a plain old
dial-up modem) and it's also a tri-band
GSM phone, so it will give you basic
functionality if you roam out of a 3G covered
area. You can connect the Motorola A925
to a PC via Bluetooth, infra-red or a USB
cable.
The Motorola A925 has 8Mb of built
in memory, plus a supplied 32Mb card that
goes in the SD/MMC slot. In addition it
has the usual bells and whistles that
all phones have these days,
One unusual feature in the Motorola
A925 is an inbuilt GPS (Global Positioning
System) capability, allowing you find exactly
where you are anywhere in the world and
use optional routeplanning and mapping applications.
It's not known as yet if Hutchison will
support this on their European 3G networks.
