Motorola A840
The Motorola A840 is a highly unusual
handset, combining both GSM and CDMA capabilities.
CDMA is widely used in the US, Canada,
South America, the Pacific Rim and South
Asia. In the US, CDMA coverage is much wider
than GSM coverage. With these two standards,
you can use the Motorola A840 pretty much
anywhere.
In network terms, the A840 is a
GSM 900/1800 and CDMA 800/1900 phone supporting
GPRS and CDMA 1X data transfer. It supports
all formats of messaging, including MMS,
IM and email. You can connect to a PC or
headset using the A840's built-in Bluetooth
capabilities.
Motorola have created the A840 to be
more than just a clever communicator. There's
a 1.2 megapixel digital camera with digital
zoom and a flash, plus a 176x220 pixel
main display in 65,000 colours. The A840
can also play back MP3 audio and MPEG4 video
plus there's a removable tri-flash memory
card giving expandable memory options.
In addition to all of these features,
the A840 has a WAP browser, polyphonic ringtones,
enhanced personal information management functionality,
a speakerphone, voice activated dialling
and more. All of this is wrapped up in a
remarkably compact clamshell handset.
The Motorola A840 is an ideal handset
for the world traveller who needs to keep
in touch, and keep organised, anywhere in
the world.
