NEC E338
The NEC E338 is a clamshell 3G phone
that shows NEC's continuing commitment to
producing high-quality and popular 3G handsets.
Measuring 94x47x24mm and weighing 130
grams, the NEC E338 is relatively compact
for a 3G handset. It features a large 176x220
pixel display in 65,000 colours and a rotating
352x288 pixel camera that can be used for
stills photographs and video calls.
Outside of a 3G coverage area, the E338
will roam to GSM networks where it supports
tri-band GSM and GPRS.
Of course, it's on the 3G UMTS network that
the NEC E338 really comes into its own,
giving download speeds of up to 384kbps
and allowing for all sorts of streaming
video and high-speed web access.
The E338 features a WAP 2.0 browser,
Java for games and other applications, two-way
video calling, email support and various
audio and video playback functions. Internal
memory is around 19Mb which is enough for
a couple of audio tracks or video clips,
but mainly the E338 will be used for "over
the air" video from one of 3's video
services.
Talktime is around 2 hours with up to
7 days standby. Available now on 3
